Bhubaneswar, March 21: Excise officials seized a huge cache of country-liquor, packed in Sprite bottles from the Bhubaneswar City on Friday.
A racket smuggling the contraband with the unique tactics, was busted by the enforcement squad of Excise from the Ghatikia area in the city.
Acting on intelligence inputs regarding an illegal beverage packaging unit, the Bhubaneswar Excise officials conducted a surprise raid in the Ghatikia area and caught the smugglers red-handed while they were transporting the contraband.
Subsequently, a case was registered in this connection and the accused ones were remanded for judicial custody.
Further investigation into the matter is underway to spot the recipient peddlers and trace out the entire delivery chain.
