Bhubaneswar, November 5: ISKCON has cancelled its planned Rath Yatra in Houston, USA, originally scheduled for November 9, following an appeal from Gajapati Maharaj Dibya Singh Dev.
The revered leader had urged ISKCON to respect traditional practices and avoid organizing an out-of-season Rath Yatra on foreign soil.
Tukaram Das, a representative from ISKCON Bhubaneswar, confirmed the change, stating that the organization will instead hold a Gaur Nitai Sankirtan Yatra in Houston on November 9.
The decision was made in deference to the sentiments of Odia devotees who felt that conducting a Rath Yatra at this time would be inconsistent with established customs.
