Puri, July 4: Following the recovery of the ailing deities from the illness caused by excessive bathing during ‘Snana Purnima’ on June 22, the ‘Ghana Lagi’ and ‘Khali Prasad Lagi’ ritual of the holy trinity will be performed at Srimandir today.
As per tradition, ‘Ghana’, medicinal oil, will be applied to the ‘Srianga’ (the body of the deities) by the sevayats. This ritual is conducted on the day of ‘Trayodashi Tithi’.
After the ‘Ghana Lagi’ rituals, the servitors will bring the ‘Khali Prasad, ‘a special offering prepared at their homes to Srimandir in a customary procession and offer it to the deities.
Worth mentioning, on ‘Chaturdashi’, the Datta Mohapatra servitors will perform the ‘Banakalagi’ rituals, marking the final phase leading to the ‘Nabajoubana Darshan’.
