Kisan Diwas 2024: PM Modi, Odisha CM Mohan Majhi pay tribute to former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Home Minister Amit Shah and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday paid tribute to former PM and Bharat Ratna awardee Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary.

His birth anniversary is also annually observed as ‘Kisan Diwas’, or National Farmer's Day, to recognize the vital role of farmers in the country's development.

Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, PM Modi wrote, “Humble tribute to former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh ji, a true well-wisher of the poor and farmers, on his birth anniversary. His dedication and spirit of service towards the nation will continue to inspire everyone.”

Similarly, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also paid tributes to the great farmer leader and said his contribution to the empowerment of the country's farmers is unmistakable.

“Tributes to the great farmer leader and former Prime Minister Chowdhury Charan Singh on his birth anniversary. His contribution to the empowerment of the country's farmers is unmistakable,” wrote Majhi on ‘X’.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also posted on ‘X’ and paid his tribute to the former Prime Minister.

"Chaudhary Charan Singh Ji, who dedicated his entire life for the rights of farmers and the underprivileged, fought bravely against the anti-democracy forces during the Emergency. Through his life, he showed that even a common man can reach the highest post in the country by making service his resolution. His personality and deeds are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for every social worker," Shah said. 

"On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and great farmer leader of the country, Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh ji, I remember and pay my tribute to him," he added.

Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid tributes to Singh said that he championed the rights farmers and played a significant role in empowering them.

“Gratitude to the farmers who feed the world. Humble tributes to former prime minister #ChaudharyCharanSingh on his birth anniversary, celebrated as #NationalFarmersDay-#KisanDiwas. He championed the rights farmers and played a significant role in empowering them,” wrote Patnaik on ‘X’.
