Raipur, Mar 26: In connection with the Mahadev betting app case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday conducted raids at the residence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
According to officials of the investigating agency, raids were conducted at several locations including Baghel's residences in Raipur and Bhilai, residential premises of a senior police officer and a close associate of the former Chief Minister.
According to Baghel's office, the CBI officials arrived at Baghel’s residences when he was about to leave for Delhi for the meeting of the “Drafting Committee” constituted for the AICC meeting to be held in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on April 8 and 9.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has so far seized, attached, and frozen assets worth Rs 2,295 crore in connection with the Mahadev Online Betting app investigation.
Few days back on March 10, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at 14 locations in Durg district, including the residences of Baghel and his son Chaitanya Baghel in connection with an alleged liquor scam case.
After the raids, Baghel posted on X, saying that officials found Rs 33 lakh in cash at his house. He explained that the money came from his farming, dairy business, and family savings.
Earlier, the ED claimed that those involved in the alleged liquor scam made Rs 2,100 crore in illegal profits, causing a "massive loss" to the state exchequer.
