Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: Hari Babu Kambhampati, the newly appointed Governor of Odisha, is set to arrive in Bhubaneswar this afternoon.
His arrival will be marked by a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the airport. From there, he will proceed to the Raj Bhavan before heading to Puri to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
The Governor will spend the night at Puri Raj Bhavan and is scheduled to visit the Srimandir on the morning of January 3. Later that day, at 10:15 am, he will return to Bhubaneswar, where Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court will administer the oath of office and secrecy to him in the Abhishek Hall of Raj Bhavan.
Preparations are underway to ensure a smooth swearing-in ceremony.
Hari Babu Kambhampati comes with a rich legacy of public service and education. Born on June 15, 1953, in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, he holds a B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. from Andhra University. His foray into politics began in 1971 with the Andhra Pradesh Janata Party during his college days. In 1991, he joined the BJP as a party worker, rising steadily through the ranks.
His political journey saw significant milestones, including serving as an MLA and MP from Vishakhapatnam. In 2021, he was appointed Governor of Mizoram. On December 24, 2023, he was declared the new Governor of Odisha, bringing his experience and leadership to the state.
Kambhampati, who is currently serving as the Governor of Mizoram, is set to take office as the new Governor of Odisha on January 3, 2025. He will succeed Raghubar Das, who resigned from the position earlier this year.
Kambhampati’s appointment comes after the resignation of Raghubar Das, which was accepted by the President of India on October 18, 2023.
