Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: The Odisha government has approved a proposal for establishment of an outreach centre of the National School of Drama (NSD) in Bhubaneswar.
Initially, it will operate at the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre in Bhubaneswar, said Minister for Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Suryabanshi Suraj.
The outreach centre of NSD will offer a golden opportunity for students aspiring to build careers in theatre and acting, he added.
The NSD is the only one of its kind theatre training institution in India, founded in 1959. Training in the School is highly intensive and covers every aspect of theatre.
Many prominent Odia actors like Bijay Mohanty, Ajit Das and Surya Mohanty are NSD alumni, who have made significant contributions to Odia film industry.
