Bhubaneswar, Mar 24: Over the past five years, the Odisha government has taken stringent action against corruption by dismissing 120 employees and granting compulsory retirement to 39 officials, informed Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the Assembly on Monday.
In response to a query from BJD legislator Dhruba Charan Sahoo, the Chief Minister revealed that between 2020 and 2024, a total of 120 government employees were dismissed, while 39 officials were forced into compulsory retirement due to their involvement in corruption and the accumulation of disproportionate assets.
Additionally, the government has confiscated assets worth Rs 59.47 crore from these corrupt public servants.
Majhi provided a year-by-year breakdown of the actions taken, stating that 31 officials were dismissed in 2023, 30 in 2024, 27 in 2020, and 16 each in 2021 and 2022. As for those granted premature retirement, 27 officials were affected in 2021, 13 in 2022, and 3 in 2020, 2023, and 2024.
