Bhubaneswar, Apr 4: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Pravati Parida and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Friday expressed deep condolences over the demise of legendary actor Manoj Kumar.
Expressing heartfelt condolences, CM Majhi acknowledged Manoj Kumar’s contributions to Indian cinema.
Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, he wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary actor & director #ManojKumar. His contributions to Indian cinema, especially in inspiring patriotism will always be cherished by his fans as 'Bharat Kumar'. My heartfelt condolences to his family & fans. May his soul rest in peace.”
Deputy CM KV Singh Deo called Kumar a true stalwart of Indian cinema and said he dedicated his art to evoke patriotism and national pride.

A true stalwart of Indian cinema, he dedicated his art to evoke patriotism and national pride, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts with iconic films like Shaheed, Upkar, and Purab Aur Paschim,” wrote Deo on his ‘X’ handle.
“His unparalleled contributions to Indian arts, honored with the Padma Shri and the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, will forever remain etched in our nation's cinematic legacy. The industry has lost an icon, a guiding light, and a source of inspiration. My heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and the entire film fraternity. May his soul find eternal peace. Deputy CM Pravati Parida wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of #ManojKumar, a legendary actor & director. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends & fans. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations.”
Similarly, Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik said Kumar was a prolific entertainer and many of his roles evoked deep patriotic fervour.
“Deeply saddened to learn about passing away of iconic actor Padma Shri and Dadasaheb Phalke Awardee #ManojKumar. He was a prolific entertainer and many of his roles evoked deep patriotic fervour. His absence will be sorely missed in the world of cinema. My condolences to the bereaved family, fans and followers,” wrote Patnaik on ‘X’.
