Balangir, Apr 4: In an ugly turn of events, an elderly woman and her son sustained critical injuries when the oxygen cylinder in an ambulance carrying them exploded in Odisha’s Balangir district on Friday.
As per reports, the mishap occurred when the ambulance was carrying the elderly woman, identified as Dutia Bhoi, along with other family members to Balangir District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
Sources said the Dutia was on her way to Balangir District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) from Muribahal Community Health Centre (CHC) with her son and daughter-in-law who gave birth to twin baby girls today morning.
All of sudden, the oxygen cylinder in the ambulance exploded leading to critical injuries to Dutia and her son.
Thereafter, the mother-son duo was rushed to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
The health condition of Dutia is reported to be critical.
