Bhubaneswar, Jan 02: The procurement process of paddy in the state has been intensified in the current kharif season, said an official on Thursday.
At present, paddy procurement is going on in 18 districts including Bargarh, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Balasore, Boudh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Konjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Subarnapur and Sundargarh.
The procurement of paddy will start in other districts soon. For this, extensive preparations are underway in the respective districts. Apart from this, the registered farmers are being given advance information and tokens are being issued, the official said.
At present, paddy procurement is in 1591 mandis in these districts, he said.
Similarly, in every mandi, the nodal officers monitor the procurement process. A strict vigil is being kept on paddy carts from outside the state and traders who keep more paddy than required at the time of procurement.
For this, 190 enforcement officers are appointed in these districts. Prompt action is being taken after such incidents came to light, he said.
Input assistance is being provided to their accounts with MSP within 48 hours of selling paddy. For this, the Civil Supply Department has taken extensive measures and taking a serious note of the complaint related to this.
