Bhubaneswar, March 24: The Odisha government has dismissed 159 officials over the past five years due to corruption and illegal wealth accumulation, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed to Odisha Assembly on Monday.
Of the 159 officials, 120 were terminated, and 39 were forced into compulsory retirement following allegations of misconduct and financial irregularities. Additionally, Rs 59.47 crore worth of illegal assets were seized from those accused of accumulating wealth beyond their known sources of income.
Between 2014 and February 2025, the Vigilance Department registered 3,623 corruption cases, of which 2,553 have been resolved, leading to legal action against several offenders. The latest figures show that 939 officials were convicted, while 1,053 were acquitted due to insufficient evidence.
