Sundargarh, March 26: Police have recovered the body of a woman who was allegedly stoned to death by her husband in Hutupani village in Talasara police limits of Odisha’s Sundargarh district.
The deceased has been identified as Durgabati Singh, wife of Rupanana Singh of the same village.
According to the information, the couple had gone to the nearby forest to collect Mahua flowers. However, a heated argument started between them. Rupanana, in a fit of rage, attacked Durgabati with a stone resulting in her death on the spot.
However, Rupanana, after returning to the village, told everyone about the incident. From that time, he has been absconding.
Being informed by the villagers, police reached the spot, seized the body and started investigation into the incident.
“The couple had gone to collect Mahua flowers. Following a verbal argument between them, the accused Rupanana Singh attacked her wife with a stone and killed her on the spot. Though he has been absconding, efforts are ongoing to track him down soon”, said police.
