Bhubaneswar, October 10: The Odisha government has issued guidelines for the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Yojana, a scheme aimed at reducing dropout rates among Scheduled Tribe (ST) students studying in Class 9 and 10 in government and aided schools.
Under this scheme, eligible ST students will receive a one-time financial assistance of Rs 5,000 after completing Class 8 and Class 10 and enrolling in Class 9 and Class 11, respectively.
The scheme, launched by the BJP-led government under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, is designed to encourage ST students to continue their education by addressing the high dropout rates observed after Class 8 and Class 10.
The financial aid is intended to help students cover incidental expenses and ensure regular attendance after enrollment.
Additionally, students benefiting from other scholarship schemes will still be eligible for the Rs 5,000 incentive under this program.
The initiative is expected to improve enrollment rates in higher secondary education, contributing to the overall educational progress of tribal students in Odisha.
