Berhampur, Dec 10: The Odisha Police on Monday busted a job racket in Ganjam district and arrested three persons for allegedly duping lakhs of rupees from job aspirants.
Police also seized a newly purchased car, money counting machine, mobile phones, fake appointment letter and other materials from their possession.
The accused reportedly duped around Rs 1 crore from at least 20 job aspirants in different districts on promise of appointment in government jobs. They collected Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh from each victim, Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M said.
Notably, nine persons were arrested on December 4 for allegedly duping gullible unemployed youth of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing them government jobs.
One Hrudananda Muni and his associates had duped job seekers of over Rs 1.96 crore.
Mobile phones, fake government seals, appointment letters, bank cheque books, car and other articles were seized from the possession of the arrested.
