Odisha: Man thrashed to death over suspicion of theft, three others injured

Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: At least one person died and three others sustained grievous injuries after they were allegedly thrashed over suspicion of theft at a garment shop in Singla area of Odisha’s Balasore district.
The incident has been reported from Sartha village under Singla police limits in the district and the deceased has been identified as Trilochan Pradhan of the village.
As per reports, the garment shop of one Ajay Das was looted of cash and clothes on Saturday night. Suspecting the involvement of Trilochan and three others, identified as Satish Singh (35), Tapua Mahanti (31) and Tapan Pradhan (19), in the theft, Ajay and his family members along with some locals attacked them with iron rods and sticks by tying them to an electric pole at Odishala Square on Sunday.
While Trilochan died on the spot, Satish, Tapua and Tapan were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital with grievous injuries. The injured trio was later shifted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) as their health condition deteriorated.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the village and launched a probe into the matter.
