Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: The Odisha government today informed that it will soon roll out the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM), allowing patients to access all their medical records through a single digital account.
Speaking on the move, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said this initiative is set to transform healthcare in the state by creating a unified platform for storing and managing medical data.
The new system will introduce the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card, which will be overseen by the National Health Authority (NHA).
Mahaling explained that citizens can register their health information through this card.
By scanning the card's QR code, individuals will gain instant access to a comprehensive record of their medical history, including previous treatments and illnesses.
The platform has been planned to improve efficiency, effectiveness and transparency of health service delivery. The health ID will be in the form of a mobile application of a website.
The NDHM aims to digitalize the storage and retrieval of medical data, enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of healthcare services. Residents can apply for the ABHA card online, and it will be linked with the Ayushman Bharat scheme for broader benefits.
The Odisha government has set a target to distribute the ABHA cards by February 2025, the minister further stated.
