Jajpur, Feb 4: In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly killed her husband and later buried his body before surrendering at Sukinda police station in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
The accused has been identified as Dumari Munda (30) and the incident has been reported from Dubikhal village under Sukinda police limits.
As per reports, Munda had married Babuli Munda (36), a native of Balasore district, about seven years back. However, the couple used to have regular fights over domestic issue. A heated argument ensued between the couple on February 27 which later took a nasty turn when the deceased husband started hitting Dumari.
Angered by her husband's behavior, Dumari struck him with a wooden plank, leading to his death on the spot. Later, she buried his body in the backyard of their house after narrating the incident to her parents.
On Sunday (March 2) night, villagers learned about the killing and urged Dumari’s family to report the incident to the police. Following their advice, Dumari surrendered before the Sukinda police.
Following her surrender, Sukinda police registered a case and launched a probe into the matter. The police exhumed the body from the backyard on Monday (March 3) and sent it for a post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Dumari was produced before a court which remanded her to a judicial custody for 14 days.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
