Bhubaneswar: Day 3 of the M25 Bhubaneswar ITF World Tennis Tour 2024 brought exciting matchups at the Kalinga Stadium Tennis Centre, where Odisha’s emerging tennis talents, competing as wild card entries, gave their all on the court. Despite their spirited efforts, local players Kabir Hans, Amrutjay Mohanty, and Debasis Sahoo faced tough opponents and were unable to secure wins today.
In the Main Draw Singles Round of 32, wild card entrant Kabir Hans faced Indonesia’s M Rifqi Fitriadi, who claimed victory with a score of 6-4, 6-2. Meanwhile, wild card entrant Amrutjay Mohanty took on the formidable Sidharth Rawat, who clinched the match decisively with a 6-0, 6-0 scoreline. While the outcomes were challenging, both players gained valuable experience competing at this high level.
In the Main Draw Doubles Round of 16, wild card entrant Debasis Sahoo, partnered with Cahir Warik, took on Ishaque Eqbal and Faisal Qamar. Despite their determined effort, Eqbal and Qamar secured the match 6-3, 6-2.
The tournament excitement continues as Odisha player Pratyush Mohanty, another wild card entry from Odisha, remains in the singles main draw and is set to play his first-round match tomorrow. In doubles, wild card entrant Amrutjay Mohanty has teamed up with Siddharth Vishwakarma, and Kabir Hans will partner with Rishab Agarwal, who received direct acceptance. Both doubles pairs are also scheduled to compete tomorrow, keeping Odisha’s hopes alive in the tournament.
