Bhubaneswar, December 4: President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the newly constructed District Judicial Court Complex of Khurda in Bhubaneswar on Thursday evening.
The administration has completed all preparations for the grand inauguration of the judicial complex.
This five-story complex features advanced amenities, including air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, 55 courtrooms, record rooms, a library, a conference hall, and a canteen. Landscaped lawns and water fountains surround the building, adding to its aesthetic appeal. Additionally, the complex offers essential services such as a bank and a post office.
Special care has been taken to ensure the comfort of all visitors. The building includes a healthcare center with a doctor and two nurses, four corridors, and 55 judge chambers. The parking area accommodates approximately 1,000 vehicles, including 500 cars and 700 two-wheelers, with a multi-story parking structure. The basement is reserved for 70 parking spaces dedicated to judges' vehicles.
Designed with both the public and staff in mind, the complex features restrooms for the public, separate facilities for women, a breastfeeding room, and a crèche. There are also rooms for advocates and staff, two conference rooms, an E-Library, a general library, and a computer room for lawyers to research specific cases.
Sitanshu Mohan Dwivedi, Chairman of the Odisha Bar Council, expressed his excitement: "This is a historic moment for the legal community of Bhubaneswar. The inauguration by President Droupadi Murmu will mark the beginning of a new era for our judicial system, enhancing its efficiency. This complex will also facilitate the delivery system of justice at one point"
Senior Advocate Sidhartha Das stated, "This inauguration fulfills a long-standing aspiration for the legal community. The new judicial complex represents progress and will serve future generations."
Anjan Kumar Samantray, former Secretary of the Bhubaneswar Bar Association, shared his enthusiasm, noting, "The legal community is excited about the inauguration. However, we believe every advocate of the Bar should be granted access to the event & witness the inaugural function, as the number of passes provided is insufficient."
Ashok Behera, Former Vice-President of the Bhubaneswar Bar Association remarked " This much-awaited event of inauguration of the Judicial Complex is an exciting moment for all of us. The construction of the complex took nearly 6 years. During this time, Advocates and litigants suffered a lot. Now, the time has come to rejoice"
The construction of the complex began in 2017-18 with an initial budget of ₹98 crore. In 2020, an additional ₹70 crore was allocated to improve parking facilities.
