Cuttack, Nov 15:The Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI) Bus drivers operating in the Cuttack district went on a mass agitation on Friday on being annoyed with overtime duty and irregular payment of their salaries.
The discontent of drivers came up as an agitation today, since the LAccMI Bus authorities allegedly imposed them for unpaid overtime duties than the usual timings, assigned to them.
According to report, following a resolution hundreds of LAccMI bus drivers started ‘quit steering’ agitation and sat on a dharna in the Tangi-Choudwar Block Office premises in the afternoon.
As per the drivers, they were assured food allowances worth Rs 300 and legitimate wages per kilometer, at the time of their appointments. However, these assurances are yet to be addressed by the government.
Apart from it, the driver’s forum also complained of excess duty than the scheduled hours with no overtime dues for it.
“We are not regularly paid our salaries and deprived of getting Joining letters and the State Insurance & Provident Fund (SIPF) numbers,” said a driver who is yet to get his salary for the last seven months.
The stir will continue till the demands are addressed with concern, said another driver.
