Puri, Jan 4: The ambitious Puri International Airport project, a landmark initiative for Odisha, is poised to achieve a significant milestone with the anticipated ‘In-principle’ approval.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation granted site clearance for the project in 2023, marking the initial step in this transformative endeavour. Following this, the Detailed Project Report (DPR), highlighting meticulous planning and feasibility, has been submitted.
The project now awaits Environmental Clearance (EC) and defence clearance, critical requirements expected to be secured shortly. These approvals will pave the way for the construction of a world-class airport in Puri, a city renowned for its cultural and religious significance.
Once operational, the Puri International Airport is expected to revolutionise connectivity to the region, enhancing accessibility for domestic and international tourists alike. It will notably streamline the journey for pilgrims visiting the iconic Jagannath Temple, one of India's most revered spiritual sites.
Beyond its religious and cultural implications, the airport promises to catalyse Odisha’s economic development. Improved connectivity is likely to attract increased tourism, foster trade, and stimulate investment, creating a ripple effect across various sectors.
The project represents a pivotal moment in Odisha's infrastructure growth, with its far-reaching impacts set to elevate the state’s profile on both national and global stages. The Puri International Airport is not merely an infrastructure project but a gateway to a new era of opportunities and progress for the region.
