Sundargarh/Nayagarh, Dec 26: At least two persons were killed and another was injured in two separate road mishaps in Odisha’s Sundargarh and Nayagarh districts on Thursday.
In the first incident which took place near Rampur village under Binka police limits in Sundargarh district, a young man died and another sustained injury when their motorcycle lost control and crashed into a tree.
The deceased was identified as Krushna Tandi and the injured person was Naresh Barik, both residents of Kamira village in the district.
Following the mishap, the duo was initially rushed to the Binika Community Health Center (CHC) where Krushna succumbed to his injuries. Naresh’s health condition remained critical following which he was shifted to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.
Upon getting the information, Binka police reached the spot and seized the motorcycle.
In the second mishap, a man died after his truck fell into a culvert near Barihapita village under Daspalla police limits in Nayagarh district.
The driver has been identified as Bonnisan Khan, hailing from Koderma district in Jharkhand. He was transporting cement from Visakhapatnam to Sundargarh.
As per reports, when Bonnisan crossed the culvert near Barihapita village, the truck overturned, trapping him inside.
After being informed, police along with firefighters arrived at the scene and used cutters to rescue him from the vehicle. Unfortunately, he was already dead due to the impact.
Daspalla police have launched an investigation into the matter.
