Bengaluru, Aug 19: His maiden Test ton was an unbeaten 303. He is only the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to hit a Test triple century. He was believed to be a long term Test prospect for India.

But he played only 6 Test matches and in 7 innings has scored a total of 374 runs, which includes a triple ton. His Test average is 62.33 with an impressive strike rate of 73.91.

He also played two ODIs for India and scored a total of 46 runs, with 39 being his highest score.

He is now 32 years and still waiting for his chances in Test cricket again. Can he get another opportunity in red-ball cricket for Team India? He is still optimistic about that.

Karun Nair, last represented his home state Karnataka almost a year ago, and it is seven years since he last played for India.

Last season, he played for Vidarbha in domestic season and this season too he will be part of Vidarbha team.

Nair has been overlooked by IPL franchises in the last couple of seasons. He however was popular among fans, who turned up to watch the Maharaja T20 Trophy opener in Bengaluru recently.

Speaking to a section of press, Nair stated it is said a player peaks at 30-31 and he believes it comes true in his case. Last season he scored 690 runs in Ranji Trophy as Vidarbha finished runners-up. He did well in Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament and Vijay Hazare Trophy too.

Though he is considered as a seasoned campaigner in domestic cricket, but does he expect to make a Test return? Well, he is positive about his return to Team India's red-ball scheme of things. His fans and Indian cricket would definitely love to see Karun Nair back in Test squad and hit big hundreds. Well, we never know, he may hit more Test triple tons!
