Bhubaneswar, Oct 9: The 30th All India Railway Hockey Championship Tournament, hosted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), successfully concluded today at KIIT Hockey Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
The four-day event saw exciting competition among teams from various Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways.
In a thrilling final, Northern Railway emerged victorious by defeating Southern Railway with a score of 3-1 Goals in shootout, claiming the prestigious Championship Trophy.
Vinod Kumar of Northern Railway was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance, while Amladas P M, Goalkeeper of Southern Railway was honored as the Player of the Tournament for his consistent excellence throughout the event.
Gracing the closing ceremony, General Manager, East Coast Railway, Parmeshwar Funkwal, congratulated the players and emphasized the importance of sports and physical fitness in enhancing the performance of security personnel.
Funkwal also presented the Championship Trophy to the winning team in the presence of Principal Chief Security Commissioner of Railway Protection Force (RPF), Shri Alok Vohra.
Senior railway officials, including Principal Heads of the Departments from East Coast Railway Headquarters and Khurda Road Railway Division, were also present to witness the final match and the closing ceremony.
This event not only highlighted the sportsmanship and teamwork of the Railway Protection Force but also reinforced the role of sports in promoting physical well-being and camaraderie among security personnel.
