New Delhi, Nov 22: The 7th edition of Odisha Parba 2024 organised by New Delhi based premier Odia organisation-Odia Samaj will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here today and will continue till November 24.
The inaugural day of this grand event will be graced by President Droupadi Murmu who has consented to be the chief guest.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan and Bhartruhari Mahtab, Member of Parliament will be the guests of honour on the inaugural day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest on the closing day ceremony.
Initiated by Dharmendra Pradhan, this annual event was conceptualised to celebrate and spread Odisha's rich cultural heritage globally. Over the years, Odisha Parba has ignited a profound sense of pride among Odias, and after six remarkable editions, all eyes are on making the 7th celebration even more spectacular.
Odisha Parba has a historic connection to its origins at the iconic India Gate, a venue that added immense prestige to the event. Although the India Gate grounds are no longer available for hosting events, it remains a matter of pride that the Odia Samaj and Odisha were honoured to inaugurate this cultural extravaganza at such a significant landmark.
This year, the festival promises a grand showcase of Odisha’s diverse cultural tapestry, featuring performances by artists from various regions. A highlight of the event will be the historical children’s play, Biplabi Bajia, conceptualised by Pinkwood Creations and the Pace Foundation of Odisha.
The visitors can enjoy classical Odissi performances, vibrant folk and tribal dances, and contemporary musical acts by popular Odia singers such as Barnali Hota, Swayam Padhi, and Diptirekha Padhi. Adding a modern twist, renowned Odia rappers like Rapper Big Deal and Prayas Bohidar will bring their energetic flair to the stage.
Odisha Parba 2024 promises to be a captivating blend of tradition and modernity, ensuring an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages while reinforcing the pride of being an Odia.
The event will have 45 food stalls selling delicious Odia food items like dahibara-aloodum, mudhi-manso, nonveg and veg Odia thaali etc besides the popular meetha and peetha from the nooks and corners of the state. The shopping zone will have 25 Handloom & Handicraft stalls selling exquisite Odia crafts and looms, which are so loved by the residents of Delhi.
This year the Odisha Parba will introduce certain new elements like – a Book Lounge to be managed by prestigious National Book Trust of India. Odia Samaj in collaboration with NBT will also be hosting Odia Conclave for 3 consecutive days with focus on Odia Identity, Odia language, literature and the new education policy.
An interaction with more than 30 founders of start-ups, with roots in Odisha, is another highlight of the festival. This is definitely going to be a source of inspiration for our aspiring entrepreneurs who must visit the event to learn the ropes of business.
