Bhubaneswar: Broad economic discontent against the Biden administration has sunk Vice President Kamala Harris first bid to White House, as former US President Donald Trump writes history after 1892 to win the US President Race. It was Grover Cleveland who in the history of US election had won the 1892 US elections, after losing the elections in 1888.
In the US elections 2024 held on November 5, former President Donald Trump has won big trumping Democrat and Vice President Kamala Harris by winning majority of popular votes and majority of Electoral College votes.
As per the poll results at 1:40 IST, Republican candidate and former US Prez Donald Trump has polled 6.8559 cr votes as against 6.34cr by VP Kamala Harris. With the counting on, the Electoral College votes for President Trump stood at 266 vis-à-vis 219 for VP Kamala Harris.
TRUMP SWEEP IN USA
Even as results are pending in 6 states – Nevada, Arizona, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Maine, the Trump sweep is big across the United States of America. Donald Trump has won 26 states out of 47, whereas Democrat candidate and VP Kamala Harris could win only in 9 states.
REASONS FOR TRUMP-ING HARRIS
As per exit poll surveys done by ABC news, nationally, the share of people saying they've gotten worse off under the current administration (Biden) (45%) is the highest in presidential exit poll, even surpassing the 42% "worse off" in 2008, in the teeth of the Great Recession.
The exit poll results therefore shows the win for Obama coined phrase in 2008 elections, “It’s Economy stupid.” And Americans seem to have voted in big way on this line, lapping up the popular Trump slogan – ‘Trump Will Fix it.”
TRUMP’S VICTORY SPEECH
Speaking to his supporters at Florida, a jubilant looking Trump, also looking more relaxed, said, "Well, I want to thank you very much,.. Frankly, this was, I believe the greatest political movement of all time.”
Trump further added, “This will truly be the golden age of America. It will make America great again. There was no other path to victory. We will make proud you of your vote.”
