Lucknow, April: Bad cold? Take a puff of cigarette to fight it, prescribed an UP doctor to a 5-year boy.
Following the strange medication to a kid suffering from running nose, the reckless doctor faced stricter action from the health authorities, said reports.
According to reports, the doctor was allegedly seen asking a boy, brought to him for cold treatment, to smoke a cigarette for cure.
The accused physician Dr Suresh Chandra, posted at the Central Health Centre in Kuthaund, was soon transferred and a probe was ordered against him,said Chief Medical Officer Dr Narendra Dev Sharma.
Dr Chandra was captured in a video allegedly asking the 5-year boy, to put a cigarette to his mouth. The doctor then lights the cigarette up and asks the boy several times to take a pull on it.
The video made rounds on social media and attracted widespread concern regarding the non-professionalism of the offending doctor.
Apart from it, a probe was ordered in this connection.
A probe has been launched under Additional CMO Dr SD Chaudhary, and a report will be submitted to the state government soon, added the CMO.
