BEO office accountant in Kalahandi flees with Rs 39L govt cash

Bhawanipatna, Oct 8: An accountant of Block Education Office(BEO) in Kalahandi has allegedly fled with Rs 39 lakh government cash. The incident came to the fore after the Teachers’ Association knocked DEO office after non-payment of their salaries in due time. The accused, identified as Suchismita Suar who a native of the irrigation Colony in Bhawanipatna town is on run after a formal complaint was lodged in connection with her financial irregularities. According to the complaint lodged by BEO, Thakur Chandra Sahu, Suar was dealing with the salary of the Ex-cadre teachers. Following the non-payment of the teachers’ salary for two months, the affected teachers initiated an objection with the BEO regarding the financial fraud.An investigation into it revealed that Accountant Suar had allegedly transferred the salaries of the teachers amounting Rs 39, 30,369 to her own savings bank account with forge signature and false approval of the former BEO. Acting on the bank particulars, the BEO lodged a complaint with the police submitting the relevant documents. A case has been registered in this connection. Further investigation is underway. The whereabouts of the accountant is so far to be ascertained, said police.
