Bhubaneswar, December 5: President Droupadi Murmu officially inaugurated the highly anticipated Bhubaneswar Judicial Complex. The excitement surrounding the event is palpable, with local advocates and residents eagerly awaiting this occasion.

At the inaugural function, President Murmu emphasized on reduction of adjournments in the judiciary system for the larger benefit of litigants and society at large.

She also said that people are generally in distress condition coming to court for justice. They treat the Advocate as GOD-like. So, Advocates should reciprocate it.

The grand inauguration took place this evening, attended by thousands of legal professionals, dignitaries, and members of the judiciary.

To accommodate the large crowd, extensive arrangements have been made, including a massive pandal where around 6,00 people will be seated. Additionally, three large LED screens have been set up outside the main function area for those unable to attend in person. Live streaming of the event will also be available to ensure broad participation.

The newly constructed five-story complex is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including air-conditioned spaces, free Wi-Fi, and 55 courtrooms.

With its modern amenities and strategic design, the Bhubaneswar Judicial Complex is poised to transform the region’s legal landscape, fostering greater efficiency and accessibility within the judicial system.

Sitanshu Sekhar Dwevedi, Chairman, Odisha Bar Council expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This is a momentous occasion for the legal community in Bhubaneswar. The inauguration by President Murmu marks the beginning of a new chapter in our judicial system, which will enhance efficiency and facilitate the swift delivery of justice."

Raj Kishore Das, former secretary of the Bhubaneswar Bar Association, shared his excitement but also raised concerns about the limited access to the event. "While the legal community is thrilled about the inauguration, we believe that every advocate of the Bar should be allowed to attend. The number of passes allotted for the event is insufficient."

Anjan Kumar Samantray, former Secretary of the Bhubaneswar Bar Association reflected on the significance of the occasion, saying, "The long-awaited inauguration of this Judicial Complex marks a moment of celebration for all of us. It took nearly six years to complete, and during this time, both advocates and litigants endured significant hardships. Today, we finally have reason to rejoice."

Advocate Subhranshu Sekhar Jena added, "The inauguration of this complex fulfills a long-standing aspiration for the legal community. It represents a major milestone in progress and will serve future generations of legal professionals."

Construction of the Bhubaneswar Judicial Complex began in 2017-18 with an initial budget of ₹98 crore. In 2020, an additional ₹70 crore was allocated to improve the parking facilities, further enhancing the complex's infrastructure.
