Calgary (Canada), July 6: Indian badminton is on an upward swing. In the recent years, many Indian players have challenged, beaten and emerged as key performers/winners in global badminton competitions.
Those who have made it big in the global stage as successful shuttlers from India, are no more unknown players. To that long list of successful Indian badminton stars, Priyanshu Rajawat is the latest addition.
In the Canada Open, Rajawat got the better of World No 4 Anders Antonsen of Denmark, 21-11, 17-21, 21-19 in the quarterfinal, to enter the semifinals.
Rajawat will now face Alex Lanier of France for a spot in the finals.
Rajawat had earlier defeated World No 24 Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in round of 32 and World No 33 Takuma Obayashi in last-16 on his way to the semifinals.
Can he defeat Alex Lanier in the semis and enter the final, that will be of extreme interest for Indian badminton fraternity and fans.
