Jajpur, April 5: In a tragic incident, a couple died and their 4year old son sustained injuries after an speeding car suddenly stuck them near old tollgate near Panikoili police limits in Jajpur distict on Saturday.
The incident occurred while the couple along with their minor son were travelling from Kuakhia to Panikoili on a bike. Suddenly a speeding car stuck them near the old tollgate and fled the spot.
Following the accident, the woman died on the spot, while the man was rushed to Jajpur District Hospital in a critical condition. However, doctors declared him dead. Their son, however a close save and was unhurt.
Being informed Panikoili police reached the spot, sent the bodies for autopsy and started investigation into the incident.
The child is currently in the protective custody of the police while authorities work to identify the deceased couple and notify their families, according to official sources.
