Paradip, April 5: In a disgraceful incident, a Railway official in Odisha was reportedly suspended on Saturday for receiving liquor as bribe.
The incident took place at the Paradip Railway Station where the erring Railway official, identified as Himansu Sekhar Behera (Reservation Supervisor) favoured a passenger fetching a Tatkal ticket off the queue, for two bottles of liquor.
Senior Divisional Manager (Commerce), Khurda Road Railway Division placed Himansu Sekhar Behera under suspension on Friday after a video featuring his unlawful deeds went viral on social media.
One Akhaya Majumdar of the Kujang area alleged that Behera denied Tatkal tickets to the passengers waiting for tickets before the counter. As the aspirants insisted for tickets pleading it unlawful, the official on the counter informed that the Tatkal tickets exhausted as the Reservation Supervisor allotted them to some of his men.
Later, the issue reached the railways headquarters and the authorities came down heavily on the unscrupulous official.
