Ramgarh-Kanika Chhak committee

The committee has been organizing Durga Puja since 1987, and this year it is constructing a 14-foot high and 9-foot wide Chandi Medha using two quintals of silver. The Goddess will be adorned with 30 kg of silver jewelry. A standout feature of the tableau will be 25 intricately designed peacocks, each weighing 3.5 kg.

Tulasipur Durga Puja committee

The committee is working on a 15-foot high and 14-foot wide Chandi Medha. This tableau will showcase exquisite silver motifs of swans, along with designs of ‘Phula Patti’, ‘Ambakasia’, and ‘Kadamba’. At least 200 kg of silver has been used to create the backdrop for the idols of Goddess Durga, Saraswati, and Laxmi, along with Lord Ganesh, Kartikeswar, and Mahisasura. The Tulasipur pandal has been celebrating this festival for over four decades, and both ‘Chandi Medhas’ are set to be inaugurated on October 9, coinciding with ‘Sasthi’.

With these additions, the elite ‘Chandi Medha’ club in Cuttack now boasts 34 puja committees. The tradition of silver tableau began in Cuttack in 1951, when the Choudhury Bazaar puja committee crafted the first ‘Chandi Medha’ for the Goddess.

This year, a total of 173 mandaps will be set up under the Cuttack Mahanagar puja committee.
