Dreaded criminal from Bihar apprehended in Odisha's Balasore

Bhubaneswar, October 12: Balasore police have arrested a notorious criminal, Sanjay Singh alias Subodh Giri, in connection with the murder of Sk. Jasim. The police recovered a pistol and six rounds of ammunition from Singh, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices, said Dr. Satyajit Naik, DIG, Eastern Range.  

 According to a police report, the crime took place on June 4, 2024, near Badagaon Railway Station's level crossing, where Singh and an associate attacked Sk. Jasim, shooting him four times. 

Jasim later succumbed to his injuries during treatment in Cuttack. Initially charged under sections 307/34 IPC and the Arms Act, the case was later amended to include section 302 IPC.

 Sanjay Singh hails from Aurangabad in Bihar and has a criminal history in Odisha, including his involvement in the Bhadrak LIC office dacoity of 2007 (₹24 lahks) and the Balasore LIC office dacoity of 2006 (₹9 lahks) and arms smuggling case in Balasore Khantapada area.
