Swift action ensures worker safety

A major fire broke out early Saturday morning at the Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, sending shockwaves through the industrial hub. The blaze erupted around 5:30 AM in the mobile phone accessories painting unit, quickly engulfing the area in thick smoke and triggering panic among workers and nearby residents.

Swift action by the company and fire officials ensured the safety of all employees. Around 1,500 workers were on duty during the first shift when the fire broke out. Seven fire tenders rushed to the scene, battling the flames and evacuating employees from the premises. While three employees were taken to a nearby hospital for respiratory issues, they are reported to be in stable condition.

Tata Electronics, in a statement to the media, confirmed that all employees are safe and that the cause of the fire is under investigation. The company, which manufactures components for iPhones, employs around 4,500 people at its sprawling Hosur facility. Police officials deployed over 100 personnel to secure the area and assist with the evacuation.
