Fire Services DG inspects fire safety measures at Bhubaneswar airport

Bhubaneswar, June 8: Director-General of Fire Services SK Upadhyay today inspected fire safety measures at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. Senior officials of the airport including the director also took part in the inspection. Existing hydrants and sprinklers were tested to know actual efficiency. Fire extinguishers were found to be refilled in 2021 and having validity till 2026. The airport authority also agreed to suggestions on keeping adequate fire balls in closed rooms and lounges for use in emergency. Emergency exits and evacuation plan of airport was also inspected. Besides, strength of fire tenders during landing and takeoff were tested at fire control room of the airport along with emergency treatment care unit and crisis mobile control. Airport fire officers were requested to dial 112 in case of reinforcements and other issues. It was also decided for joint mapping with local fire station staff on last Sunday of every month beyond perimeters of airport.
