Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: Former World Health Organisation (WHO) Chief Scientist & Chairperson of MS Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) Dr Soumya Swaminathan called on Odisha Dy. Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Thursday.
During the interaction, Dr Swaminathan invited Singh Deo to participate the international conference on ‘Hunger-Free World’ scheduled in Chennai on August 7.
During the discussion, Dr Swaminathan proposed developing the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) at Jeypore in Koraput district into an international training centre for farmers.
In the meeting held at Singh Deo’s official chamber in the Lok Seva Bhavan, Principal Secretary of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Agriculture Director Prem Chandra Chaudhary and other senior officers were present.
Worth mentioning, Dr Swaminathan is currently the Chief Advisor of the National TB Eradication Programme of the Government of India’s Health & Family Welfare Department.
