Mumbai, Oct 4: Actor Govinda is set to be discharged from a Mumbai hospital on Friday, four days after sustaining a leg injury when he accidently fired the bullet. The 60-year-old actor underwent surgery on Tuesday and is currently recovering at a private facility.
According to Govinda's daughter, Tina Ahuja, "He is better. He is getting discharged today."
His wife, Sunita Ahuja, added that the actor has been advised to rest for at least six weeks. "He will be discharged today. I will bring him home, but he will have difficulty standing. He is fine and will start dancing again in a few days. Everyone has prayed for him, and we have the blessings of Mata Rani," she said.
Sunita emphasized the importance of rest at home, noting, "The doctor has instructed him to remain on bed rest for six weeks, so we will limit visitors to avoid infection."
Govinda was injured on Tuesday at his residence when he accidently fired the bullet as he was preparing to leave for the airport. The local police are investigating the incident, with the Mumbai crime branch also conducting a parallel inquiry. No complaints have been filed so far.
Dr. Ramesh Agarwal, who treated the actor, reported that the bullet struck below Govinda's left knee, requiring 8 to 10 stitches. In an audio message, Govinda reassured his fans, saying, "With the blessings of my fans, my parents, and God, I am doing better now. I was hit by a bullet, which has now been removed." Known for his roles in films such as "Love 86," "Swarg," "Dulhe Raja," and "Partner," Govinda remains a beloved figure for his comedic timing and dance skills.
