Bhubaneswar, Mar 23: Bhubaneswar came alive today with the vibrant Happy Streets initiative, drawing enthusiastic participation from residents eager to embrace fitness, culture, and social interaction. Held near Ekamra Haat, Unit-3, on the bright summer morning of March 23rd, the event transformed city streets into a lively, traffic-free zone.
Participants enjoyed a range of activities, including skating, cycling, dance-offs, yoga sessions, and badminton. Rock bands performed energising numbers, adding to the festive atmosphere. The initiative, designed to promote a healthy and eco-friendly lifestyle, encouraged citizens to step outdoors and engage in recreational pursuits.
Organised in observance of the International Day of Happiness, the event turned selected roads into pedestrian-friendly spaces from 6:30 am to 10:00 am. Thousands of residents took part, exploring fitness workshops, cultural showcases, and artistic expressions, making the most of the car-free environment.
Over the years, Happy Streets has attracted over 1.5 lakh participants across 250 locations nationwide. This year, multiple cities are celebrating the movement in unison, reinforcing the message of health, happiness, and community spirit.
