Bhubaneswar, March 26: The Budget Session in the Odisha Assembly encountered a stormy evening last night when the Congress MLA wreaked ruckus over foming a standing committee on injustice to women.
The same situation in the House again persisted on Wednesday as the ruling BJP disallowed the Congress MLA into the Assembly and protested their ways by the house marshals.
Following this, Veteran Congress leaders along with the Youth & Student Congress members jeopardized the business in the Assembly today. Meanwhile, acting on the suspension of all the Congress Legislators, the prime opposition BJD joined the commotion and cited the govt’s act, quite undemocratic.
The opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Legislators also staged a high-voltage drama here demanding a statement from the Speaker.
The situation escalated when BJD legislators walked out of the Assembly after Opposition Chief Whip Pramila Mallik insisted on an official clarification regarding the previous day’s disruptions.
Tensions yet escalated as BJD MLAs allegedly broke through the barricades and marched out of the Assembly premises to join the protest, raised by the Congress.
BJD MLA Arun Sahoo said, “Congress MLAs were assaulated in the Assembly. The Police also attacked the BJD MLAs.
BJD MLA, Ranendra Pratap Swain said, “We are placing our demands in a democratic way. The way one-side step is being taken by the Odisha government is not acceptable. The government needs to change its stand.”
