New Delhi, December 18: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal has announced a new initiative, the Sanjeevani Yojana, aimed at providing free healthcare to senior citizens in Delhi. The scheme will ensure free treatment at both government and private hospitals for all residents aged 60 and above.
Speaking at a public event on Wednesday, Kejriwal emphasized that the initiative would have no income criteria or treatment cost limits. "This is a guarantee from the Kejriwal government for all our elderly residents in Delhi," said the former Chief Minister, adding that the scheme would be implemented if AAP is re-elected in the February 2025 polls.
To facilitate the scheme, Kejriwal announced that AAP volunteers would begin visiting households for registrations within the next 2-3 days. Registered individuals will be issued cards that must be preserved for future benefits. He assured citizens that the entire cost of the scheme would be covered by the government once AAP returned to power.
The announcement builds on AAP's earlier welfare initiatives, aiming to strengthen its commitment to public healthcare and social welfare.
