Bhubaneswar, February 19: While an unrest at the KIIT University Campus is on the rise following the death of a Nepali girl student, the Odisha government on Wednesday began a high-level probe into the matter.
The high-level panel comprising ACS & Home Secretary Satyabrata Sahu, Secretary Higher Education Arvind Agarwal, and Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh reached the KIIT campus in the afternoon to enquire into the sensitive issues.
During interaction with pressers the panel members said that they will study the reason behind the suspicious death of the Nepali girl and the provocation behind the dire consequences, the matter triggered on the university campus on the fateful day.
Worth mentioning, tension erupted in the KIIT University campus in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar after a Nepali girl committed suicide in the hostel allegedly being harassed by her boyfriend. The tension further escalated after all the inmates hailing from Nepal were expulsed from the varsity campus declaring sine die, by two unruly wardens of the girls’ hostel.
