Kumbh Mela: Who Bathes When? Akhara Sequence for Mauni Amavasya

On Mauni Amavasya, which falls on January 29th this year, the devotees will participate in the second Shahi Snan aka Amrith Snan (royal bath) at the Mahakumbh Mela 2025. The 13 akharas (religious orders) will proceed to the Sangam for a holy dip in a pre-determined sequence. Sequence and Timings of Akharas for Shahi Snan on Mauni Amavasya:

While the exact sequence might vary slightly, here's a general order based on the information available:

  1. Mahanirvani and Atal Akhara: 5:15 AM to 7:55 AM (40 minutes for the ritual bath)
  2. Niranjani and Anand Akhara: 6:05 AM to 8:45 AM
  3. Juna, Avahan, and Agni Akhara: 7:00 AM to 9:40 AM
  4. Nirmohi Ani Akhara: 10:40 AM to 12:00 PM
  5. Digambar Ani Akhara: 10:20 AM to 1:10 PM (55 minutes for the ritual bath)
  6. Nirvani Ani Akhara: 12:20 PM to 2:20 PM (30 minutes for the ritual bath)
  7. Naya Udaseen Akhara: 1:15 PM to 3:10 PM (55 minutes for the ritual bath)
  8. Bada Udaseen Akhara: 1:20 PM to 4:20 PM (1 hour for the ritual bath)
  9. Nirmal Akhara: 3:40 PM to 5:20 PM (40 minutes for the ritual bath)

 These timings are approximate and may vary slightly on the day of the event. To witness the procession it is advised to arrive early and a ring side view as large crowds are expected in surges. As Shahi Snan is an important religious event, do maintain respect during the Akhara’s procession. Do check with the officials and information kiosks for up-to-date information
