Cuttack, Dec 25: In a gruesome case, a businessman allegedly killed his wife who was a constable, on Wednesday brutally slitting her throat.
Committing the crime he attempted suicide who was admitted to the SCB Medical College & Hospital for resuscitation.
The deceased woman was identified as Bishnu Priya, a constable at the Cuttack Cyber PS whereas the accused is Biswajit Mall.
The incident came to light at the Siddheswar Sahi under the Lalbag Police limit when the cops recovered the woman’s body from a pool of blood, after a tip-off from the locals.
According to report, the duo who had got married following a love affair was involved in marital dispute most of the time. Both had reportedly opted for a judicial separation. Meanwhile, an oral duel broke out between the two late at night on Tuesday that took an ugly turn. As a result, an aggrieved Biswajit slit his wife’s throat with a knife who died on the spot. Following this, he himself hit his throat with the sharp weapon and became critical.
On being informed, the police rushed to the crime spot, seized the body and escorted the accused to the hospital.
