Chandigarh, December 22: The death toll in the Mohali building collapse has risen to two as rescuers recovered the body of a 29-year-old man from the debris on Sunday. Preliminary investigations suggest that excavation work on an adjacent plot may have triggered the collapse.
The multi-storey building in Sohana village of Punjab's Mohali district crumbled on Saturday evening, trapping at least five people under the rubble. Rescue teams worked tirelessly through the night in search of survivors.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Damandeep Kaur confirmed the recovery of one male body during the ongoing rescue operation. Efforts to locate others potentially trapped continue, with authorities intensifying relief measures at the site.
