Bhubaneswar, October 13: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took part in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign by planting a sapling at Raikala village in Keonjhar district on Sunday. The initiative is aimed at promoting environmental conservation through tree plantation.
Majhi highlighted the importance of community involvement in protecting the environment, urging citizens to participate in the campaign to honor and respect the motherland. "Let us all, from children to adults, plant a tree for mothers," he said.
The Chief Minister shared images from the event on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I participated in a tree-for-mother program organized by Patishan Seva Trust at Raikala and planted saplings. #EkPedMaaKeNaam."
The 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on June 5, World Environment Day. During the 114th episode of "Mann Ki Baat," PM Modi praised the initiative for mobilizing people across the country to contribute to environmental efforts.
In addition to his participation in the tree-planting campaign, CM Majhi visited several Durga Puja pandals in Cuttack on Saturday, where he offered prayers to Maa Durga on the occasion of Navami. He also mentioned that he would review the ongoing Smart City project in Cuttack during his visit.
