Koraput, Mar 19: In an unfortunate incident, a college student lost his life while two others sustained critically injuries after a tree branch fell on the bike they were riding on in Baipariguda locality of Odisha’s Koraput district today.
While the deceased student has been identified as Mahendra Nayak, a resident of Chhinchara village, Dharma Mali and Kamulu Harijan of Jeypore were critically injured in the mishap.
As per reports, the mishap took place at Mahuli Ghati area under Baipariguda police limits in the district when the tri, Plus III students of Baipariguda Degree College, were on their way to the college to appear for an examination
All of sudden, the tree branch suddenly fell on the moving bike killing Mahendra on the spot. Dharma and Kamulu were rescued by some locals and rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in critical condition.
Upon getting the information, firefighters along with Baipariguda police arrived at the scene and took stock of the situation. The cops seized Mahendra’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
The firefighters cleared the road by cutting the fallen tree branch.
Further investigating into the incident was underway.
