Odisha Food Supplies Minister warns against hoarding ahead of possible cyclone

Bhubaneswar, October 20: As the Odisha government is getting ready to face a possible cyclone, State Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra today warned the traders against hoarding essential commodities for black marketing. Odisha braces for cyclone next week: Personal preparedness and safety guide

He emphasized that any such actions would be met with stringent consequences.

Speaking to reporters in Cuttack about the potential for hoarding and black marketing, the Minister reiterated the government’s stance.

“I have made it clear that our administration will not tolerate black marketing. All our officials are prepared for the situation, and there will be no issues,” he said.

Although the Minister expressed optimism that the cyclone may not heavily impact Odisha, he assured the public that the state government is fully prepared for any eventuality.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the formation of a cyclonic storm over the east-central Bay of Bengal by October 23. 

The storm is expected to move north-westwards and approach the Odisha-West Bengal coasts by October 24, with wind speeds possibly reaching 100-120 kmph, accompanied by rainfall.
