Odisha: Former BDO sentenced to 3 years RI for misappropriating govt fund

Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: A special vigilance court in Jeypore today sentenced former Narayanpatna Block BDO Ramesh Chandra Sahoo to undergo three years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for misappropriating government funds.

The Special Judge also imposed a fine of Rs.50,000.

Sahoo, who was retired, charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) PC Act,1988/ 409/120-B IPC, for misappropriation of government money to the tune of Rs 5 lakh sanctioned under Biju KBK Yojana during the year, 2013-14 without executing road work.

Earlier, Sahoo was convicted twice on February 17, 2025 & March 21, 2024 by Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore for misappropriation of government funds.

The pension of Sahoo has been withheld by the Government since October 19, 2024 following his conviction on March 21,2024.
